The Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve has a total area of about 100 hectares, and was originally a dairy farm in the 1800's. The homestead that was built during that time now functions as a quaint chapel, while another home has been converted into a restaurant. This gives the buildings, and the reserve as a whole, an irresistible charm and elegance that infuses each venue and event.

The nature reserve boasts a number of residents that have made it their natural habitat. These are a delight to watch, so visitors should keep an eye out for impala, blesbuck, springbuck, ostrich, and zebra. Those who love spotting different bird species flying or perching overhead are also in for a treat, as the reserve showcases some of the area's loveliest birds. Remember to bring binoculars and a camera along.

The Moreleta Spruit has a tributary that winds its way through the reserve, and provides a welcome watering hole for many of the birds and other wildlife, as well as water for the surrounding greenery.

There are a number of walking trails through the Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve. These are of different lengths and intensities to suit a range of walking requirements. The Rademeyer Trail is 1.6 kilometres long, the Duiker Trail is 2.9 kilometres long and the Suikerbos Trail is 3.3 kilometres long. These are quite manageable on your own, but guided walks are always recommended for those that want to reap the full benefit of the knowledge and experience of the guide. These tours should be booked about four weeks in advance. The trails are open every day to the public.

The Discovery and Sensory Trail is a two-kilometre trail that was designed for the blind, those that have problems with their eyesight and those in wheelchairs to enjoy. Concrete surfaces, clear signs and the natural wonders of the surrounds are utilised in a way that showcases the splendour of the area and ignites different senses.

A day trip to Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve is more than a day in the country. It is an opportunity to unwind, and to appreciate the verdant abundance and natural variety of South Africa.
