Sadly, The Walmer Country Club has closed.

The lush Eastern Cape is no stranger to top rated South African golf courses and the Walmer Country Club course is certainly counted amongst the very best of them. Apart from the tree lined fairways and dense indigenous scrub that frames the fairways, the club has warm and friendly members, is a social melting pot and hosts competitive leagues.

The Port Elizabeth Club offers an enjoyable challenge to the amateur golfer over its 5958 meters which contain water hazards, bunkers, tricky rough, Port Elizabeth's notorious wind and even a right-handed dogleg thrown in for good measure. In order to make the par 72 you'll need your wit about but if nothing else you'll certainly give the local birds, meerkats and tortoises something to grin about.

Built in 1942 the club has enjoyed over half a century of splendid golfing moments, which is something the 550+ members will testify to. The good news is that you are invited to come and join in the legacy. Book a tee time and a place to stay in Port Elizabeth ahead of time to avoid disappointment.

Facilities include the clubhouse, catering, pub, billiard table, swimming pool and, in true South African style, a braai area.
