Segaia Bush Retreat is a highly recommended property for self catering in Buffelsdrift for anyone visiting the Northern Gauteng region.
The name rolls gently and easily off the tongue - Segaia - a name you're not likely to forget once you've visited this charming lodge which is a mere 20km from Pretoria and less than an hour from Johannesburg and O.R. Tambo International Airport.
One of the jewels of northern Gauteng, Segaia Bush Retreat offers an escape to the magic of the bush that reminds of areas far more remote. It is the perfect getaway for weary, ‘traffic jammed' city dwellers who do not want to spend hours on the road to get to a weekend destination, but require an atmosphere of peace and tranquility combined with fresh air.
Segaia Bush Retreat's stylish and luxurious interior design reflects the fine taste of its well-traveled Swiss owner. There is an eclectic mix of Afro-chic finishes, European furniture and antiques from around the world. Each beautiful piece carries its own story, and the owner has brought them all together to create an environment filled with warmth and charm.
All the beds have beautiful white percale cotton sheets and down duvets. The open-plan living room and dining areas have chic earthy tones and textures, successfully linking the interior of the units with the beautiful African bushveld outside.
Each unit has a fully equipped kitchenette fitted with modern appliances, providing everything you need for your meal preparations.
Segaia Bush Retreat consists of The Lodge, and the separate Zebra and Leopard Units.
The main lodge overlooks the dam, the newly opened main lodge has a newly opened +- 200 m2 entertainment area with large stone fire place. It sleeps six people.
• Relaxation, Bird-watching, Hiking, golfing, 4x4 trails, Star gazing.
• Water-sports at nearby at Roodeplaat Dam.
• Visit nearby Mandela Cultural Village and Ndebele Cultural Village
• Tour the historical village of Cullinan and its adjacent diamond mine.

Segaia has all of these, including African sunsets and stunning views of a dam on your doorstep - a watering place where Zebra, Kudu, Impala, warthog and the odd leopard come to drink. Birdlife is prolific, as are large numbers of frogs, both of which treat visitors to their songs.
North-east of Pretoria, Segaia is situated directly to the west of the Roodeplaat Dam Reserve. It is completely surrounded by dense ‘doringveld' and nestles in the well-maintained and carefully managed Buffelsdrift Conservancy.
What is loadshedding? It refers to the temporary suspension of electricity provided by Eskom, South Africa's electricity provider, to reduce consumption and thereby the load on the national grid. To compensate, South African property owners are turning to solar power, inverters with backup batteries or in some cases generators to keep the power on, wherever feasible.
