The Buffalo Gorge hiking trail offers 4 trails namely the white, orange, yellow and blue trail. More than 80 different species of magnificent trees can be spotted. The White trail covers a distance of 12-15 km and offers you an awesome opportunity to explore the different eco zones on the farm. The trail cuts through part of the lush indigenous forest, past fascinating rock formations and across several shimmering streams. The trail also leads to the edge of a deep gorge known as Adventure Valley.
The torrent Selon's River cuts through this scenic valley with its rapids and waterfalls. Enjoy a sumptuous picnic beneath the thick cover of trees. The orange trail is a 1,5 hour walk through the indigenous forest and identifies the different tree species. The yellow trail takes approximately 3 hours to complete and reaches a magnificent shimmering waterfall. The blue trail visits offers views of beautiful bonsai trees, wonderfully shaped boulders and waterfalls.
Go hiking in the lush Waterfaalriver in Mpumalanga. The Hadeda Falls hiking trail will take you through some of the highest mountains in the Steenkampberg Range in this beautiful area. The trail also promises views of magnificent bird-life and fauna and flora. It passes through dense bush and lush forests on mountain. There is a network of 4 hiking trails namely the Kranz trail, River trail, Mountain Fern trail and Ammo trail. The base camp for all these hikes is set next to a mountain stream and surrounded by thick indigenous trees. It is within a earshot of the highest waterfall. Backpackers will sleep overnight at the Leopard Cave.
The Kranz trail offers magnificent views and crosses 13 pools and 8 waterfalls. The River trail follows the same trail as on the Kranz trail but after one kilometre it veers away to ascend the koppie from where magnificent views of the fruit and vegetable lands in the valley will be enjoyed. The Mountain Fern trail follows the gorge to link up with the Ammo trail on top of the plateau. The Ammo trail follows the Kranz trail up to where you will climb the plateau with the ladder. The trail reaches the Leopard Cave where you will sleep. This beautiful trail is approximately 16km long.
Chrissiesmeer is where a most beautiful part of the country offers hiking trails. It boasts gorgeous valleys, long stretches of grassland, shimmering mountain streams and invites you to explore the hidden wonders this land offers. The Brook Hiking Trail consists of 2 day hikes being 12km and 5,5km long and gives you the opportunity to explore these wonders. The trails pass through open grasslands, an abundance of wild flowers and boast numerous bird and animal life.
The Ama Poot-Poot Hiking trail allows one to hike whilst admiring the awesome game in the area. It is situated in a beautiful game reserve and offers two circle routes of 13km and 6km. Enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of this reserve with 13 species of game. The trail also crosses rivers and leads to a glistening 10m high waterfall. Excellent overnight accommodation is available.
