The Kareedouw Pass is one of several mountain passes through the quartzite of the southern Outeniqua-Langkloof-Tsitsikamma-Kareedouw range of Cape Fold Belt mountains.

Kareedouw Pass connects the N2 just beyond the Tsitsikamma of the Garden Route with the little town of Kareedouw, the farming and forestry town in the Langkloof, where it rests alongside the popular Route 62 - the longest wine route in the world.

It is not a long pass nor is it difficult to navigate, particularly as it is tarred all the way. Views from the pass are beautiful as the road passes through the natural neck between two mountain peaks.

There are many reasons to drive the pass to Kareedouw. The town's Dutch Reformed Church, for instance, is a landmark from the road and lies against the mountains, its stone architecture beautiful.

Kareedouw is also the southern entrance to the Baviaanskloof Mega Reserve - the third largest conservation area in the country.

The Rensilfier furniture factory, who consider themselves one of the most celebrated wooden furniture makers in the province, have their showroom in town - a bargain hunter's destination for black and yellow wood furniture.
