About SA Armour Museum

The SA Armour Museum is situated in Tempe, Bloemfontein, which is one of the country's largest cities. Affectionately known as the city of roses, Bloemfontein has a charming character all of its own, and is a delight to visit as a family, thanks to its rich history and heritage.

Did you know? Outside, there is the Armoured Fighting Vehicles exhibition, which is always a favourite. Tanks and other sturdy combat vehicles create an impressive display of what the South African Armoured Corps had to offer.

The SA Armour Museum is dedicated to preserving the integrity and the history of the South African Armoured Corps (SAAC), as well as of armour in a broader sense. Its exhibitions include an indoor display, outdoor display, the Garrison Hall, a vehicle hanger (complete with a number of restored vehicles that are, once again, in working order), the poignant Wall of Remembrance, and more.

Garrison Hall is a function area that caters for up to 80 delegates or guests, and hosts a number of lectures, films and fund-raising events throughout the year.

The museum's shop, aptly named The Gun Barrel, is brimming with awesome finds like plastic models, authentic uniforms, and other little gems that are sure to fascinate young and old alike.

The Research Library is adjacent to the museum. On its shelves, those with a keen interest in history can discover books, periodicals, and documents that are all about warfare and equipment in the South African context.
