Glenvista, Johannesburg
Johannesburg, also known as the City of Gold, is South Africa's commercial, entertainment and financial epicentre. It is always abuzz with all things musical, artistic, gastronomic and cultural. The south of Johannesburg is also home of the leafy suburb of Glenvista.
Glenvista has been dubbed the New South, and is seeing an increase in development as more and more residential and commercial property owners see its worth and invest in it. Still, it retains a quieter vibe than other Johannesburg hotspots. It is an affluent suburb within beautiful surrounds that include thorn bushes and typical South African bushveld, which has a loveliness and allure all its own. Combining this cosmopolitan neighbourhood with gorgeous backdrops and a quiet ambience is the secret to Glenvista's popularity for both locals and visitors alike.
Glenvista is home to the Glenvista Golf Course, which is at once challenging enough for pros and manageable enough for beginners to get their practice in. The kikuyu fairways and bent grass greens are irresistible for local members and those that are spending some time in Gauteng on vacation or business.
Other cultural, historical and fun attractions in and around the south of Johannesburg include the Apartheid Museum, Constitution Hill (dedicated to the heritage of this country, with a focus on human rights), the South African National Museum of Military History, the James Hall Museum of Transport and Gold Reef City.
