Smack bang in the heart of Fourways - almost where the former set of stop streets originally stood before development ushered in a major set of roads and lights that admittedly make navigating Fourways far easier, but do away with the former charm of what used to be ‘Fourways-out-in-the-sticks' - is Montecasino, as it is known by locals.

Johannesburg loves the Montecasino. Over weekends and in the evenings visitors flock here for late night shopping and an array of restaurants that include Japanese, Portuguese, Mediterranean, Eastern fusion and, of course, Italian. Off to one corner of Montecasino is the Palazzo hotel, a 5-star luxury hotel with 246 rooms and a swimming pool, whilst next door to the Montecasino is the Montecasino Bird Gardens - roughly 1000 birds and small animals housed in their natural setting.
