Wierda Park, Northern Gauteng
Wierda Park, neighbour to Eldoraigne and Hennopspark, lies in the heart of Centurion with easy access to the N1, N14 and R114, also known as Ruimte (space) Road, which passes through the suburb.
The roads are lined with big trees, gardens well established and homes pretty. It is a neighbourhood sought after by those who work in Centurion and Midrand, or even Pretoria as the commute is good from here. Wierda Park has its own shopping centres and the main road bustles. You could be mistaken for assuming it was a town in its own right.
Those who live in Wierda Park have access to numerous activities, both in Pretoria and Johannesburg: Groenkloof Nature Reserve and the Voortrekker Monument are but 10 kilometres from here; one of the prettiest golf courses at the Zwartkop Country Club is down the road; the Swartkop Air Force Museum is close by in Valhalla - where visitors can get a bird's eye view of military and civilian aircraft during their air shows, and the many centre of town tourist icons in Pretoria are close at hand – Melrose House Museum, Kruger House, the State Theatre, the Museum of Natural History (now called the Ditsong National Museum of Natural History), and the Pretoria Art Museum to name but a few.
The buildings of the University of South Africa (UNISA) lie on the hill in Muckleneuk not even 13 km from Wierda Park.
