Bluelilliesbush, Tsitsikamma
Bluelilliesbush is a small area that is perched along the renowned Garden Route of South Africa. Specifically, it is located in Tsitsikamma, which is part of the Western Cape Province and is known for its stunning greenery and the prolific animal life that has made this their habitat of choice. This lush abundance is frequented by visitors from all over the world that want to experience the loveliness of South Africa, but is also a popular spot for adventure travel, thanks to all of the adrenalin-inducing things to do within the immediate surrounds.
Bluelilliesbush is quiet and small, making it the perfect getaway for outdoorsy folk wanting some time out from the city. It is known for its massive fern collection, which is not only stunning to see, but also an important part of the local economy as these plants are cultivated and exported. The Sandrift River and Gorge promise stunning vistas and great photo opportunities. The river joins up with the warm blue waters of the Indian Ocean in a scenic river mouth.
The sea is part of Bluelilliesbush's appeal, and lures travellers to swim, engage in water sports or watch schools of dolphins playing in the surf. When the whales skirt the coast every year between July and December, these can be enjoyed from the shore as they spyhop, lobtail and breach in stunning displays.
Because Bluelilliesbush is situated in Tsitsikamma, it is ideally located for a number of local activities and attractions. These include visiting the Garden Route National Park, ziplining over the waterfalls or the Tsitsikamma Forest, bungy jumping off Bloukrans Bridge, black water tubing down Storms River, segway tours through the forest, horse riding, cycling, hiking and camping. Bird watching is another very popular pastime for folk visiting Bluelilliesbush, thanks to the vast array of avian species in the area.
Port Elizabeth is a 90-minute drive away, and the coastal hotspots of Knysna and Plettenberg Bay are also nearby.
