Kirstenhof, Constantia Valley
The residential suburb of Kirstenhof is centrally situated near to a number of shopping centres, restaurants and tourist-friendly facilities. Neighbour to Tokai, Kirstenhof shares a similar laid-back suburban feel, while being only about 20 minutes from the City Bowl of Cape Town and a little over half an hour from the Cape Town International Airport.
The main road that winds its way through the suburbs of Rondebosch, Wynberg, Plumstead and Bergvliet and onto Muizenberg, Kalk Bay and, eventually, Simon's Town is only minutes away from Kirstenhof, along with the many shops, boutiques, restaurants, and speciality stores that line its vibrant pavements. The Blue Route Mall is also nearby, equipped with around 120 shops and abuzz with excitement and top-notch shopping opportunities. This mall is a fabulous spot for dining, shopping and entertainment.
All of this convenience is set against the breath-taking backdrop of the Constantiaberg Mountains, which are incredible to explore on the many foot paths. Views of Cape Town and many of the local wine farms are extraordinary and those heading out into the mountains will, no doubt, enjoy the stunning endemic fynbos that adorns it.
Cape Town is the base from which some of the world's finest wines can be savoured, thanks to the Cape Winelands. Constantia, which is on the doorstep of Kirstenhof, is home to a number of renowned wine farms and visitors are invited to sample these fantastic labels at leisure. Nearby wine farms include Constantia Glen, Steenberg Vineyards, Constantia Uitsig, Klein Constantia, Buitenverwachting, and Groot Constantia. Some of these have award-winning restaurants attached to them to complete the culinary experience to perfection.
The Tokai Forest is a tranquil escape in the heart of this area, filled with giant California redwood and oak trees, amongst others. This park is stunning to amble through or as a secluded venue for a romantic picnic. There are barbecue and picnic sites available.
