Leipoldtville, Cederberg
The historical Leipoldtville remains relatively unknown, which is all part of its magic. This little town has such a sense of charm, a hidden gem along the Cape West Coast that is just a treat to discover. It is 40 kilometres from Clanwilliam and less than 30 kilometres from Lambert's Bay in the Cederberg Local Municipality.
Leipoldtville is often used as a homely base from which to explore the other fascinating and fun areas of the in the Cederberg and the Cape West Coast. It is technically a suburb of Graafwater, which is almost 20 kilometres away. It lies on the peaceful Langvlei River, where the sandstone fynbos is particularly impressive.
This town may be small, but it is in the heart of the Sandveld, which is renowned for its challenging 4 x 4 trails for visitors that want to test their vehicles and their skills.
It was established in 1905, more than a century ago, and Leipoldtville has managed to retain the slow pace and laid-back vibe of yesteryear. This is where visitors truly get the opportunity to break away from the treadmill of city living and relax.
Of course, the Cape West Coast and the Cederberg are full of adventures and attractions. So, when you're all chilled out and ready to explore, head to the nearby towns of these regions. Langebaan and its exquisite lagoon are famous for kite-surfing, Paternoster has awesome restaurants on the sands of its pristine beaches, and Clanwilliam has a rustic quality that is hard to beat. The West Coast National Park is a must for your itinerary too.
Book your accommodation in Leipoldtville, just 2.5 hours from Cape Town, to experience its charm and the wonderful variety of the West Coast and Cederberg.
