We arrived in Wuppertal on a All Pay Wednesday ( SASSA social grants pay day ) The people were friendly and a jolly. The donkeycarts were beautiful in their simplicity - packed with groceries and monthly shopping. The Leipoldt tearoom's tea and scones was good, but the personnel needs training. There must be toilet paper in the toilets ( it was in the morning still ) and a waiter can not speak while eating . We did not receive a bill or receipt . But the most saddening thing was the shoe factory : I took pictures . This place is filthy and I could not believe is is the same place that I saw on television in a program about Wuppertal . How can something like this happen ? The church and buildings are still beautiful, but I would not go back.

I had the privilege of discovering this gem of a village during a ladies off-road motorbike trip. The slow, calm energy in the village is addictive and the architecture a rich, visual treat. Friendly, welcoming folk added to the experience.
