About the Parys Arts Festival

The Parys Arts Festival will not be held in 2020.

Parys may just be a small town on the banks of the Vaal River in the Free State, but it is about to burst into a non-stop hive of creative buzz. This is when the Parys Art Festival is scheduled to provide a stunning platform for the creatives of the Free State, North West and the rest of South Africa to showcase their work and inspiration.

This is the town's first arts festival. Interestingly, it's also the first arts festival in South Africa to span two provinces (the Free State and the North West). And it is here that a number of venues will join forces to promote tourism and art in this gorgeous part of the country.

Being organised by artists means that this event is special – it isn't focussed on one form or style, and it isn't about the commercial aspect. Rather, this event is all about celebrating the art and its unique creators. Different art forms will be showcased. These range from dancing, music, drama and theatre performances to ceramics, sculpture, photography, painting, and so on. The artist participating in this festival will be as unique as the pieces themselves; and will range from school-going age to mature, experienced artists with decades of experience under their belt.

This is an important event for the local community, which stands to benefit from meeting the artists, catering to the visitors, and even having their own goods exhibited. The Parys Arts Festival will, no doubt, put Parys back on the map as one of the top art destinations in South Africa. To create even more excitement, there will be a wine festival and a massive street party on the go too; making this a hub of fun and festivities for all.
