About the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show Public Tasting

Taste South Africa's top wines as judged at this year's Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show, the country's most prestigious wine competition, now in its 16th year. Usually totalling around 100, wines are all silver, gold or trophy medal winning wines from the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show.

These wines, presented in an informal showcase environment by either the winemakers or their marketing representatives, are selected from a line-up of over 1 000 wine entries and judged 'blind' by a panel of judges chaired by South Africa's wine authority Michael Fridjhon (all judges are esteemed international and local wine personalities).

Details of all award winners and the ultimate accolade, the Most Successful Producer, will be available from the end of May. Some of the past Most Successful Producer winners include De Trafford Wines, Cape Point Vineyards, Vergelegen, Nederburg, KWV, Rustenberg Wines, Stark-Condé, and Delaire Graff in 2016. Trophy winning wines at the show will include Best Red, Best White, Discovery of the Show (Best Value), the International Judges' Trophy award. All wines are available to buy at the tasting at show prices and light meals and refreshments are also on sale.
