Suitable for those interested in Adventure, Big 5, Wildlife
Early pick up at place of residence in Port Elizabeth and depart for the nearby malaria free Addo Elephant National Park with its population of close to 700 free roaming African Elephants, Lions, herds of Buffalo, Black rhino and the shy Leopard, the legendary Big 5, amongst the many species of antelope, Warthog and Zebra as well as the rich and diverse bird and reptile life that inhabit one of the most popular parks in South Africa.
After entering the park we take an opportunity for a break, check in and start our game viewing experience searching for the rich diversity of wildlife in the thickets and on the open plains while learning about the animals and the habitat in which they live.
Reaching main camp we stop for light lunch before departing for the nearby Zuurberg mountain range. This is an exciting and picturesque experience as we negotiate the rough track in our sturdy 4 x 4 safari vehicle.
We climb the historic Zuurberg mountain pass with its spectacular views over the vallesys and lowlands below. The pass was constructed in 1849 first by Henry Fancourt White and later completed by Matthew Woodfield.
We descend into the deep valley to meet the three gentle Elephant bulls who will be our close companions for the next hour or so as we walk with the elephants as they forage in their natural environment of these remote mountains. There are other species such as Zebra and giraffe who share this reserve with the Elephants that can be viewed while interacting with the elephants, After walking with these fascinating animals we gather at the feeding post where you will have the opportunity to feed the elephants after which they will roam free once again with maybe an opportunity to view them taking a mud bath or a swim at the waterhole.
At the end of the experience we board the safari vehicle to return to Port Elizabeth and your accommodation after a full day of excitement in the African Bush.
