About Bryanston Golf Course

Located in one of the more vibrant and classical areas in Johannesburg, the Bryanston Golf Club holds it head high as one of the country's finest golfing estates. Founded in 1948 and eventually opened it 1951 the club takes its history seriously and pays homage to their founders.

Designed by Charles H Alison and constructed by Koos de Beer, the 6768 metres of golfing finesse will challenge you, especially where accuracy is concerned. In fact, it has been said that “Birdies come at a premium and hitting the fairways and the greens is an art to be mastered.”

13 of the 18 holes feature water hazards and as you would imagine, the opportunity to sink your ball is an ever present danger. The course is a Par 73 which is certainly unusual of golf courses these days but the extra length at Bryanston certainly caters for the enjoyment of one more shot.

The fairways, indeed the entire grounds remain magnificently tended to and provide such an appeal to the eye that one may be forgiven for paying only half their attention to shot selection. Visitors will be please to know that play here is open to the public. However, it is highly recommended that you book your accommodation in Bryanston and your tee-off times ahead to avoid disappointment.

Facilities are of a high standard and include, apart from the 18 hole golf course – a swimming pool, lapa, bowling greens, squash and tennis courts.
