About Clarens Golf Estate

Located in South Africa's beautiful Free State province is the Clarens Trout and Golf Estate. The course has been called the jewel of the Free State golfing fraternity and it rings true. Scenes of river crossing, leaping trout, cascading waterfalls and lush green grass are all to found at the course that is tucked up in the basin of its surrounding Mt Horeb mountain range.

Clarens Golf Course is quite simply, breath-taking. The course's Kikuyu fairways are lined by Willow and Lombardi Poplar trees and the greens are coated in a wonderful Bent. Golfers can expect no less than the best efforts from the ground staff at Clarens and they have proven time and again to being committed to the enjoyment of the game.

The course itself is par 71 work of art. Golf Data have managed to construct a course that is challenging, fair and extremely rewarding to all levels of golfer. Nearly all the greens lie on the banks of the river so be cautioned - the threat of water is very real.

Visitors will be please to know that play here is open to the public. However, it is highly recommended that you book your accommodation in Clarens and your tee-off times ahead to avoid disappointment. Another feature of Clarens is the stylish clubhouse that has been designed to view the end of both the front and back nine.
