Located in Sun City two hours from Johannesburg one of South Africa's favourite getaway destinations, and just over the hill from the Gary Player Golf Course, is another titan of the South African courses – the Lost City Golf Course. This masterpiece was sculpted out of the surrounding hills and rocky terrain by none other than Gary Player himself.

The gargantuan course spans more than 1000 hectares and incorporates 28 000m² of water hazards. Golfers of all abilities will undoubtedly enjoy the wide fairways and receptive greens on offer as well as the thrill of playing one the rare “downhill” courses in South Africa. The vista's from the course are simply majestic and transport one into an unknown realm and with the Palace against the backdrop of emerald hills it truly feels that you are in an “other-worldly” environment.

Lost City is an 18-hole parklands course that plays to a mammoth 6983m, making at least certainly one of the longest courses you'll ever play on. The length combined with the water mean that golf carts are compulsory here and this for your comfort. Apart from the regular distractions of blind pins, and devious bunker placements the course incorporates one of the most dangerous 13th holes on the planet for it has no fewer than 38 Nile crocodiles lying in wait for your wayward strokes. Unsurprisingly, golfers are very much discouraged from any sort of retrieval attempts.

We cannot recommend a more thrilling game of golf and since visitors are always welcome, we encourage you to head to the Lost City course for a game.
