About Monks Cowl Country Club
Situated in the Central Drakensberg and lying in the picturesque Champagne Valley is the Monks Cowl Golf Club; a nine-hole eighteen-pin splendour of Kikuyu fairways and Cynoden greens. The course offers panoramic views of the majestic mountains that characterize this magnificent piece of South African landscape.
Four hours out of Johannesburg and two in from Durban, Monks Cowl is the ideal getaway course. They offer luxurious accommodation as well as tennis courts, a swimming pool, pub and restaurant.
Visitors will be please to know that play here is open to the public. However, it is highly recommended that you book your hotel or accommodation in Drakensberg and your tee-off times ahead to avoid disappointment.
The course takes you on a relaxed journey and features a couple of dams, a river with a small waterfall. The signature fifth, for the adventurous at heart, features a swing bridge crossing which takes you across the deep gorge at Hattingspruit. Motorized carts are available for hire should you choose.
There is a wide range of activities nearby to choose from and range from the best of the Drakensberg hikes to horse riding, paint balling quad biking and more.
