Cadeau Hiking Trails are privately run by a group who also provide overnight tented accommodation on private land bordering the Tsitsikamma National Park on the Garden Route.

There are two day hikes - the Garden Route Bloubaai Coastal Hiking Trail, and the Garden Route Elands River Coastal Hiking Trail. The trails are very different, and combined, provide two days worth of fantastic hiking potential.

Garden Route Bloubaai Coastal Hiking Trail – 5.2 km (4/5 hours to complete)

If coastal scenery is what you're after then this hike ticks all the boxes – fynbos, coastal forest, and rocky shoreline. Most of the trail follows the coastline of the Tsitsikamma alongside the Indian Ocean. Whilst beautiful, there is a fair amount of technical hiking involved, but the enjoyment of swimming in a rock pool more than makes up for it. For this reason, the trail can be strenuous. But you're encouraged to take it slowly. This hike is more about the scenery and coastline than it is about notching up the kilometres.

Garden Route Elands River Coastal Hiking Trail – 5.9 km (5/6 hours)

This is the more challenging of the two hikes. It's also regarded as the more spectacular when it comes to scenery (a case of no pain, no gain), so expect rugged hiking conditions and something of a challenge. For enthusiastic hikers, this should be no problem, particularly as the added thrill of the odd chain ladder across challenging rocky climbs only adds to the thrill of the hike.

You can overnight at Cadeau Adventures in several dome tents on wooden decks.
