About Cintsa Beach
Whether you're staying in East London for a family vacation, honeymoon or business trip, its beaches are non-negotiable additions to your itinerary. They're known for their gorgeous settings, warm Indian Ocean waters and tranquil vibe.
Cintsa Beach is a particularly noteworthy one because it is just so picturesque; irresistible for long walks, exciting surfing, and beach days spent playing or reading on the sand.
In terms of surfing, Cintsa East is an exposed beach break. Although the surf is inconsistent, it's well worth it when conditions are right. This beach's waves are also popular for stand-up paddlers, kite-surfers and swimmers.
The beach is split by a scenic river estuary. On the west side, there is a small beach that is fabulous for a quick dip. On the east, there is a long stretch of sand; an unspoilt beach that extends for some 17 kilometres.
The rock pools promise hours of fun and adventure for little ones that love exploring. All year round, the dolphins can be seen surfing the waves and surging out of the waters. Between July and December, the whales come past this section of the coast too. They're always impressive to see from the shore. Look out for some playful antics too – they love slapping their tails on the water, peeking out at the beach, or blasting fountains of condensation.
While this is considered to be a safe swimming beach, bathers are reminded to be careful at all times and to watch their little ones. Rip tides can be very dangerous and difficult to spot.
Cintsa Beach is part of the Wild Coast and is about 40 to 50 minutes from the city centre of East London.
