About First Beach
Port St Johns is one of the Wild Coast's most beautiful and popular holiday destinations. It is characterised by magnificent beaches, cliff faces, grassy mountains and forests. It is frequented by surfers, backpackers and families that enjoy the serenity of a coastal retreat.
First Beach is one of the beaches for which Port St Johns is known and loved. It is particularly popular amongst fishermen, who frequently feel the rush of an impressive catch to write home about.
Surfers also love Port St Johns, but are warned that the waters of First Beach are home to a dangerously high population of sharks, particularly the Great White Shark. There have been numerous attacks and deaths here, so swimming and surfing is not recommended. However, there are a number of nearby beaches that tend to be safer.
