About Off-Camber 4x4 Trail
Experience the pristine beauty of the Eastern Cape Province just 40 kilometres outside of Port Elizabeth on the Off-Camber 4x4 Trail. This route is situated in the undeniable splendour of the Elandsriver Valley on one of the oldest farms on the region. This makes it the perfect spot for 4x4 adventurers; as it combines natural prettiness, variety and established terrain that makes for fun driving.
The Off-Camper 4x4 Trail is 17 kilometres long. Some areas are a grade two, while others are challenging enough to earn a grading of four. As such, it takes between four and six hours to complete. It is an out-and-back trail, but drivers who would prefer the option can look out for the escape routes along particularly tricky sections. The terrain is an exciting combination of sand, rock, mud, river crossings and deep dongas.
The first three sections of the trail comprise what can also be dubbed obstacle courses, which are fun and effective in testing the skills of the driver and the abilities of the vehicle. There are plenty of climbs and descents to add to the sense of adventure. The final section is better known for its scenic value, traversing koppies and river banks, and following age-old ox wagon trails.
While a guide is not essential, a minimum of two vehicles are required for the safety of drivers.
Because this area is one of natural abundance, it is a wonderland for those that love the outdoors. Other activities within the immediate vicinity of the Off-Camber 4x4 Trail include game viewing, swimming, hiking, bass fishing, quad biking, and 4x4 training within gorgeous surrounds. The facilities are frequently used for team building exercises, in addition to expeditions of friends and families.
