About Visit Settlers Park
Settler's Park is a different kind of reserve in that it is situated right in the middle of Port Elizabeth's city and suburban areas.
The Baakens River runs through the entire course of the park, making it a particularly lush area that is home to a number of beautiful bird species, as well as a huge array of vegetation. There are also a number of small antelope, tortoises, mongoose, rabbits, and other small wildlife species that have made Settler's their home. This park is famous for its resident flock of peacocks and hens.
There are various walking and hiking trails through Settler's Park, many of which are suitable for young ones or those that are unfit.
Some of the attractions of Settler's Park include
• The scale model of the 1820 Settlers' Statue that is in Grahamstown.
• The Flower Display House.
• Rock pools and rivers with stepping stones.
• Anglo-Boer war trenches.
Picnic spots are the perfect place to relax with a packed lunch, enjoying the guinea fowl and peacocks that curiously look on.
There is plenty of parking and three entrances to Settler's Park.
