About The Aloe Trail
The Aloe Trail begins at Tipper's Creek Road between Bluewater Bay and Amsterdamhoek suburbs of Port Elizabeth. This trail takes walkers on a beautiful journey through the coastal vegetation. There are two options – one is a walk of only two kilometres, while the other is seven kilometres long. They both require moderate fitness levels to complete.
Please Note
While the landscape is beautiful, it must be noted that this area is not very safe in terms of crime, and hikers should never embark on the Aloe Trail alone. Large groups are always recommended.
The trail takes participants along the escarpment overlooking Amsterdamhoek and the Swartkops River and back along the plateau through the valley bushveld. The beautiful aloes are in full bloom around June and July of every year and really offer a spectacular sight. These plants attract an array of birdlife, making this a rewarding trail for avian enthusiasts. Other animals that may be spotted along this trail include Grysbok, Blue Duiker and the bush pig.
