Thornhill is a small suburb on the outskirts of Port Elizabeth that is occupied by farms and smallholdings. It is green, lush and beautiful; taking full advantage of the serenity of this part of Nelson Mandela Bay in the Eastern Cape.

Thornhill Farm is located within these idyllic surrounds and is dedicated to all things equestrian. This farm offers lessons to adults and children, using schooled and responsive horses (and ponies) to ensure the best results. This gives visitors the opportunity to interact with the horses, understand them, and enjoy the results of their training.

Outrides into the nearby forest are conducted over about an hour, and showcase the beauty of the Eastern Cape countryside and the abilities of the animals. These should be booked in advance to avoid disappointment as they are particularly popular. Kids' equestrian clubs are conducted during the school holidays, which include the children staying as guests on the farm. These educate young ones about the animals and help them to participate in the fun and excitement while keeping busy in a constructive way.

In addition to the riding of horses, other activities are available at Thornhill Farm; such as the collecting of eggs, mountain biking, hiking, bottle-feeding the calves and lambs, and the feeding of the other farm animals. Payable activities comprise tractor rides, pony rides, cattle dipping and bread making.

The Thornhill Farm also offers backing, schooling and stabling services.

Its prime positioning means that there are a number of other attractions nearby. The African Dawn Animal Sanctuary, Papiesfontein Horse Trail Rides and Addo Elephant Park are included among these.
