About The Yellowwood Forest Tea Garden and Pizzeria
In the serene little seaside village of Morgan Bay on the Wild Coast, it's hard to do anything but relax. The cool spray of the sea, the warm white sand underfoot, the gentle touch of the Eastern Cape sunshine and the friendly smile of the locals all combine to create a place that is, not surprisingly, one of the favourite summer holiday retreats for South Africans.
And it is at this irresistible destination that the Yellowwood Tea Garden and Pizzeria can be found, right inside the Yellowwood Forest complex. This is a fantastic place for families to meet for a catch-up and a delicious meal while enjoying the natural loveliness of the forest. There is an indoors section and there are table outside under the inviting Bedouin tent, which is strung up amongst the trees. The thatched lapa, situated further down and near the stream, is private and intimate – fantastic for those wanting to enjoy some quiet time.
The Yellowwood Forest Tea Garden has a children's play area for little ones to burn some energy, work up an appetite, and have a fantastic time while their parents relax with a cold beer or a hot cuppa. All of the dishes are lovingly prepared, and there are plenty of delicious options for younger ones too.
For those that would like to sample some local cuisine, Xhosa dishes like umngqusho or umfino are on offer. The craft beers are always a hit, as is the traditional Xhosa beer known as umqombothi – a rich, dense beer with a definite kick. Other menu items include a range of sweet treats, seafood, soups, burgers, curries, and milkshakes.
The hand-built pizza oven produces some of the best-tasting pizzas on the Wild Coast. All of the pizzas are labelled “Karma-free” and there are vegetarian and low-carb options available too. The Hornbill Hoot is topped with peppadews, pineapple, feta cheese, spinach and olives; while the Nirvana combines spinach, feta, sundried tomatoes and sesame seeds for a taste explosion.
The Yellowwood Forest Tea Garden and Pizzeria is the ideal combination of chilled vibes and plenty to see and do with the family. It's open every day, except for Christmas.
