About Koranna Kloof Route 4x4 Trail

The Kloof Route is the second Koranna Getaway 4x4 Trail with a difficulty grading of 5 and a distance totalling 14km. Previously the route was used as an old cattle track when farmers took their livestock out to graze on top of the Koranna Mountain. And in the previous century you’d find woodcutters using this route to pull trees down from the mountain.
A unique route, thanks to the two veld types that make this route their home which allows for a wonderful array of vegetation and flora.

As the difficulty grading suggests this is not a route for beginners and only experienced drivers should tackle this challenge due to the number of dangerous spots and parts which are basically inaccessible. Those who are up for the challenge will have the most spectacular views from the top and it will be well worth the drive.

You’ll drive through thick clumps of trees and shrubs with rocky ground before you reach the grassland plateau which becomes easier to navigate. If you need a break there are a few spots along the route where you can stop and get out of your vehicle, either to just have a breather or to enjoy the wonderful surroundings. In order to not be disappointed don’t attempt this route during the rainy season as it will be closed.

Some technical skills are required, please confirm these before you attempt the route, but a low range vehicle with a diff lock is required.
