Situated in Soutpan, a small mining village outside Bloemfontein, Truksvy is a welcome stop for travellers needing a quick refreshment spot or a hearty meal along their way. Still, one is not likely to stumble across it, as Soutpan remains a quiet little escape from the city buzz, off the major roadways and routes. Locals are warm and welcoming, and enjoy swopping stories with visitors. And Truksvy is an ideal, homely place to do just this.

Delicious home-cooked meals with an undeniable South African influence include afval (or offal) and oxtail, which are both favourites in local homes. In addition, there are delicious cakes and sweets that are as indulgent as they are irresistible. These can be ordered ahead of time for your own private dinner party or celebration too.

Truksvy can be booked for small celebrations or events for those that want something fun and a little different in their venue and menu. Salt tours can be arranged, allowing visitors to get an insight into the history of the village and its people. It is also close to Florisbad, which has been an important archaeological treasure for quite some time, thanks to the discovery of a number of important fossils. The Soetdoring Nature Reserve is less than 20 kilometres away and is a fantastic spot for nature-lovers and those interested in experiencing the fauna and flora of our Rainbow Nation.
