About Abseiling with AfriAbseil

Abseiling means venturing down a rock face using ropes and other climbing equipment. AfriAbseil gives those with a yearning for adventure the perfect opportunity to test their abseiling limits while still enjoying some of the most glorious scenery that South Africa and the Garden Route have to offer.

AfriAbseil invites visitors to descend the 50-metre cliff face, surrounded by gorgeous indigenous vegetation, into the riverbed below. See how the river carves its way through the landscapes, breathe in the fresh Western Cape air, feel the rugged faces of mountains that have stood there for millennia, and revel in the high, crisp blue of the African sky.

In addition, AfriAbseil is one of very few Via Ferrata experiences in South Africa, and certainly the only one in the country that operates all year round. A Via Ferrata route, also known as an Iron Road, comprises metal rungs that form a vertical pathway resembling a ladder, with steel cables on the side. This helps the climbers to descend the stunning mountains.

All of the abseiling adventures offered by AfriAbseil include the needed gear as well as a brief training session beforehand.

After your heart-pounding abseiling adventure, visit the surfing hotspot of Plettenberg Bay, the many animal sanctuaries and vineyards of The Crags, or the magnificent Knysna Lagoon. This entire stretch, aptly known as the Garden Route, is wonderful for its trails, beaches, restaurants, unique shops, and natural splendour.
