About Banting Market Pretoria
If you're staying in one of the guesthouses in Johannesburg or Pretoria, you'll be on the doorstep of many of the country's top attractions. The Banting Real Food Market is a little gem that is perfectly perched in the Pretoria National Botanical Gardens, making the most out of the gorgeous setting and friendly locals. It is held on the first Saturday of every month from 09h00 to 13h00.
Banting is a way of eating that promotes the eating of foods that are high in fat and low in carbohydrates (which is why it's also called the LCHF – or low-carb high-fat - lifestyle). It is extremely popular for its health and weight-loss benefits. But, the Banting Market is not only for people that are trying to eat LCHF strictly – it is a fun day out for anyone that loves delicious food and innovative recipes that aren't available at many supermarkets or malls.
Foodies are spoilt for choice when it comes to absolutely delectable dishes and ingredients. Choose from the bullet-proof coffee, ice-cream, waffles, cheesecake, bacon doughnuts, sausage rolls, burgers, cordials, berries, herbs, nuts, nut butters and nut flours, sweeteners and more. Everything is local and fresh and, where possible, homemade. And everything is in line with this healthy eating lifestyle. There are also dieticians and LCHF lifestyle coaches to help anyone that is visiting the Banting Market to understand food and their bodies, and to implement changes.
More than this, there is live music, a very relaxed atmosphere, and pretty backdrops; which set the scene for a really fantastic morning. The Kids' Corner is a hit amongst the shorter members of the family, who will be entertained for ages while their parents stroll through the stalls and sample the moreish treats.
Pretoria's Botanical Gardens are about half an hour's drive from the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.
