Bistro Michel is the passion and brainchild of Michel Morand, who is acclaimed for having hosted the likes of late president, Nelson Mandela, Mrs Mbeki, Bill Clinton, John Legend and Lionel Richie during his time in the restaurant business. Although Bistro Michel was opened in 2015, Michel had the well respected Auberge Michel Restaurant before and has earned his place amongst some of the most esteemed restaurateurs in the country.

Bistro Michel is open seven days a week. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served from Monday to Saturday, while Sunday is open only for lunch. Morand's meals are inspired by his childhood favourites, which were lovingly prepared for the family by his grandmother. His modern approach and innovation to these classic dishes lends the menu to some really exciting combinations and taste sensations. His style has distinct French influences, thanks to his heritage. Main courses include the likes of lamb shank, duck confit, Côte de Boeuf with a classic Béarnaise sauce, and a variety of excellent seafood options.

The wine list at Bistro Michel is impressive, showcasing some of the loveliest labels from South Africa and abroad. The carefully selected wine list demonstrates a real insight into the nuances and flavours of reds, whites, and sparkling varieties.

Many of them have been working together since Auberge Michel days, and share a commitment to the customer and a love for ensuring that each diner gets to experience the real joy of fine food. Each patron is welcomed with professionalism, and is made to feel really special and important, while they are served delicious dishes.

Bistro Michel is conveniently situated in the BluBird Shopping Centre, which is close to the bustling Johannesburg epicentres of Sandton, Rosebank and Melrose Arch. The OR Tambo International Airport is about 30 minutes' drive away in light traffic.
