About Hechter-Shulz Museum
The Hechter-Schulz Afroculture Museum and Study Centre in Johannesburg is a private museum that is run by Naomi Hechter-Schultz and can be found in Boksburg's industrial centre. You need to contact Naomi in order to book a tour. Naomi has a wealth of knowledge which she is willing to share with eager participants.
The museum tells the stories, history, culture and traditions of the indigenous people of the African sub-continent and is extremely interesting. With a wide variety of artefacts that have been collected across the continent and displayed in a way that allows you to get a feel for their lifestyle.
From beadwork to fossils, fertility dolls and musical instruments as well as a selection of clothing and items worn traditionally by the Xhosa, Zulu, Ndebele, Khoisan and Shangaan people as well as others. Don't forget to make your way into the garden for the display of indigenous homes and a number of military relics.
