About Market On Main
Market on Main Johannesburg saw such resounding success in the City of Gold (Gauteng) that the city of Pretoria has followed suit and was proud to announce their very own Market on Main, which was launched in June 2015.
This is an up-market, showcasing the goods of local designers and crafters that share a passion for the beauty, diversity and talent within the borders of this multifaceted country. Expect to see goods as varied and colourful as the people that create them – from high-fashion handbags made from authentic African textiles, and colourful ties for any occasion, to flourless Nutella brownies, unique perfumes, and glamorous leather goods. Shopaholics unite in this wonderfully eclectic selection of goods and are sure to come back week after week to indulge in the selection.
Local and speciality foods abound, and visitors are certainly invited to come hungry. Tasty temptations range from rich Mozambique prawns and tender prego rolls to banting-friendly sweets, cocktails and craft beers. There are plenty of things to see and do for little ones too, providing parents with a great spot in which to ensure that everyone is happy and entertained on a Saturday morning.
This market is part of an urban renewal project, and has made massive strides in creating a city space that is fun, safe and abuzz with all things trendy. This is drawing folk back to the city centre, giving them hundreds of reasons to fall in love with the urban heart of Pretoria all over again.
The Market on Main in Pretoria is open every Saturday from 10h00 to 15h00, and entrance is R20 per person. There is parking at the State Theatre or at 216 Sisulu Street.
