The third Mythos restaurant to open in Johannesburg, it is clear that the winning formula of delicious Greek cuisine and a joyous atmosphere has proven extremely popular. A crisp, white backdrop is typically Greek, and takes one instantly back to island holidays and feasting on tzatziki and lamb. A decked out patio offers diners al fresco dining in the warmer months, from morning until night., while the double volume seating inside ensures enough place for everyone.

Starting with Mezze, Mythos definitely know how to put on a show! Think Dolmades; Phyllo Pastry filled with feta and herbs; delicately prepared Falafel; Spanakopita; Fried Squid Heads; Chicken Strips; Kefthedes; Halloumi Cheese and Grilled Calamari. Slow-cooked Lamb is the ultimate Greek delicacy, and Mythos's lamb dishes will certainly not disappoint.

Other specialities include Fillet on the Bone, prepared with olive oil, lemon juice and oregano, with chips; Souvlakia, which consists of 2 skewers of meat, accompanied by a nice portion of chips, a helping of tzatziki and pita bread; and a whole Kerkira Baby Chicken, cooked to lip-smacking perfection. The Astako Makaronda is a dish of fresh lobster served on a bed of spaghetti and tomato sauce, while the Garida Linguine is a celebration of prawns, marinated in wine, garlic and chilli. Seafood is succulent, meat is tender and falls off the bone and Mezze are prepared to perfection.

The only thing that remains is to order a strong coffee and taste one of the many desserts on the menu. The Decadent Chocolate Cake sounds positively sinful, while the Baklava and Ice-cream is all about nuts layered in phyllo pastry and soaked in syrup.
