About Rose Park
Set in the heart of Lenasia, Rose Park rests between Smarag and Argon streets. As its name suggests has an entrance lined with rose bushes that lead into the five hectare green space, past the fountain and township television screen, two mini soccer pitches and play areas with equipment for children.
The park also recently added a stimulation park for children living with diabilities, so that wheelchair-bound children can get a chance to experience jungle gyms and swings for themselves.
The park has wheelchair friendly pathways, swings, roundabout, jungle gyms and landscaped lawns which are used for events and celebrations, concerts, fun fairs etc.
The disability park was initiated by Fazel Suleman, whose daughter has a disability, and who approached Channel Islam International. Out of this grew a partnerhsip with City Parks to raise the funds – it cost R700 000 to install.
