South Africa is a land of utter diversity; a land where colours, languages, cultures and creeds converge in one vibrant melting pot. And it is this multi-faceted beauty that is celebrated by the Triple Desire Brewery in Johannesburg. This craft brewery is special for many reasons, not least of all for its product being the first beer brewed and sold in the Tembisa Township on the East Rand of Johannesburg.

Triple Desire was started by Thabiso Molekwa in 2014, based on his love for enjoying a great beer with friends. Since then, the brewery has continued to create fantastic flavours and showcase these via regular tastings at bars, pubs, taverns and restaurants throughout Johannesburg and its surrounding townships. This is important because it brings the magical nuances of craft beers to the local folk as much as it does to international tourists.

The Embombi Premium Lager is Triple Desire's signature beer. It has been crafted using a high temperature to brew it and a very low temperature to ferment it. The result is a definite malt sweetness that is distinct, but not overwhelming. The crisp finish and the ideally balanced bitterness make it fantastically refreshing and easy to drink.

At the moment, the Triple Desire Brewery does not have a permanent base. However, the beers are often showcased at various festivals and events around Gauteng, giving locals and visitors the opportunity to sample the delicious craft beer being produced in unassuming surrounds.

Tembisa is just north of Kempton Park, about 40 minutes from Sandton and 20 minutes from the international airport (OR Tambo).
