About Tour of the Durban Playhouse
The Durban Playhouse complex is located on Smith Street opposite the City Hall. The current façade preserves two of Durban's famous landmarks; the glamorous Prince's Theatre (which originated in 1926 as a cinema) and the Tudor-style Playhouse which opened in 1935.
The adjacent buildings were renovated in the early 80's, preserving many of the buildings original characteristics but converting the venue into a state of the art complex.
Tours of the Playhouse are available to enable the public and tourists to discover more about this well loved Durban landmark and what goes on inside it!
