About Elysium Beach
Warm, blue waters and long stretches of pristine white sands are what the tranquil Elysium Beach is all about. This idyllic beach is perched on the Umdoni Coast of KwaZulu Natal, where the sunsets are breath-taking and the locals friendly.
The beach is irresistible for lazy walks, energetic jogs, or hours spent soaking up the sun with a good book (and a high-factor sunscreen, of course). Little ones love building sand castles here, while older ones can enjoy a game of volleyball, Frisbee or bat-and-ball. What's more, this remains a relatively quiet beach, not overrun by hordes of locals and tourists. So, it is a peaceful escape from the hubbub of city living. Families love to bring their picnic baskets to Elysium Beach and enjoy the scenic surrounds with a few tasty indulgences.
The water is stunning for swimming and surfing, while snorkelling and SCUBA diving are also excellent ways to pass the time, thanks to the abundance of life under the sea's surface. In fact, the whole of the Umdoni Coast is famous as a fantastic SCUBA diving site. Naturally, the marine life also attracts fishermen, who spend their time casting their lines from the sands and waiting for a bite from Garrick, shad and kob.
Elysium Beach is between Mtwalume and Ifafa Beach, just less than 100 kilometres from Durban and its international airport.
