About Fitzsimons Snake Park
Please Note: Fitzsimons Snake Park has closed. Information supplied for historical purposes only.
In Lower Marine Parade, just along the coast of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, a world of excitement awaits. This is where the Fitzsimons Snake Park is located, where about 120 South African snake species and a few imported species can be discovered by locals and visitors that share a love for the wildlife of South Africa and the world.
This sanctuary is home to puff adders, cobras, and mambas (including the deadly black mamba); as well as to iguanas, tortoises and even some prehistoric-looking crocodiles. In addition to the local species, some imported species make their appearances too, including the mighty anaconda. Seeing these animals in their thermostatically-controlled cages is a very special experience. Their elegant bodies, beautiful markings, powerful jaws and slow, steady movements are intriguing and humbling all at once.
Wildlife enthusiasts will enjoy the presentations and talks given by knowledgeable snake experts, Guests will even get the chance to be part of the demonstrations, where the animals are introduced to their visitors and their unique characteristics explored. Seeing the guide handle and interact with the predators is incredible.
Durban is acclaimed for its balmy climate, beautiful beaches and busy city centre. The King Shaka International Airport welcomes millions of international visitors every year.
