About Ganabu Ridge and Baboon Rock Hike
Cathedral Peak is a free-standing mountain within the magnificent Drakensberg Mountain Range in KwaZulu-Natal. It stands at 3 004 metres, or 9 856 feet high, and boasts breath-taking views and unforgettable panoramas of the South African landscape.
Ganabu Ridge and Baboon Rock is a challenging trail that starts on the Cathedral Rock route.
Because of the steep ascent up the ridge and the steep descent to Baboon Rock in Nxwaye Valley, this trail is made all the more difficult. The total distance of the hike is 15 kilometres, which takes an estimated six hours to complete.
Because of the challenging nature of this trail, it is not recommended for those that are not fit, avid hikers. However, for those that do take this hike on, the views are exquisite.
