About Piggly Wiggly Country Village
The Midlands of KwaZulu-Natal are acclaimed for the variety of intriguing treasures scattered throughout. One of these gems is the Piggly Wiggly, which is a collection of shops, a restaurant (most popular for its pizza) and a charming coffee shop, with a few extras for the little ones. All of this is nestled within the Midlands and has a real “country” feel for those who want to escape the hubbub of the big city. Recently, a few changes were made to make Piggly Wiggly even “greener”, or more environmentally friendly.
The shops here promise plenty of retail therapy for avid shoppers. Their offering includes body products, cooking accessories, luxurious sleepwear, wrought iron creations, stained glass, African animal hides, decadent chocolates, ceramics, timber furniture, toys, gifts and décor.
The restaurant has a vast menu with plenty of delicious treats. These include hearty breakfasts, light lunches, traditional favourites, freshly baked goods, and decadent desserts. If you're just after a hot cup of coffee or a cool drink, the Piggly Wiggly will certainly be able to provide these in an inviting setting.
This is a popular spot for children's parties, and party packages can include pizza, putt-putt and candle-making. There is the Piggly Wiggly Train, which runs from 10h00 to 16h00 on weekends, public holidays and school holidays (when the weather allows).
This is also the home of Meander Fine Wines, a boutique store that showcases almost 700 different wines from South Africa and abroad. It is open from Monday to Sunday and regularly hosts wine makers to share their insights and wines with anyone that wants to be part of the fun. There are experts on hand to give advice on how best to pair your wine and food, and tastings are available to visitors that want to sample some local and international greats before stocking up.
The Piggly Wiggly certainly offers no shortage of fantastic things to do, see and taste while experiencing the prettiness of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.
