About St Ives Boma Restaurant
To celebrate the beauty and wonder of the Midlands, St Ives offers an idyllic eatery away from the hubbub of the urban centres. This restaurant, The Boma Food Bar, is situated in the scenic South African province of KwaZulu-Natal, set against magnificent backdrops that promise lovely views while enjoying scrumptious food.
The St Ives Boma was built on the foundations of family and fun. It was originally opened in 2007 and has, since then, been serving top-notch meals to visitors from all over the world. It is ideal for mates wanting to get together and watch the rugby, families looking for a spot to meet and catch up, or as a venue for parties for people of all ages. In addition to its famous pizzas, The Boma offers live music, great food, craft beers, a popular gin counter, big screen TV’s that air live sports, and a fire pit for the chilly Midlands’ evenings. It is great for families as there is a large outdoor play area for the little ones, which includes a mini zipline and a trampoline. Not far away, there is also a pump track for kids who have brought their own bikes along.
The I Love the Midlands Market is hosted by The Boma on the last Sunday of every month. Here, visitors can peruse the stalls and search for some great finds, in the heart of the gorgeous Natal Midlands. Entrance to the market is free.
St Ives is also renowned for being a fly fishing estate, and avid fishermen are invited to come and try their hand here, where trout and bass abound. Trout are on a catch-only basis, and what is caught can be enjoyed by anglers of different abilities at their leisure, as it is cleaned and packed by the staff. The rest of the estate has some gorgeous fauna and flora to enjoy before or after your tasty meal at the restaurant.
The Boma at St Ives is only 10 kilometres from Howick, seven kilometres from the glorious Midmar Dam, and an hour from Durban and its international airport, King Shaka.
