About Wartburger Brauhaus
Head to Wartburg in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands, find the Wartburger Hof that was founded in 1890 by Lutheran missionaries and you'll also find yourself at the Wartburger Brauhaus. Swiss-born Max Haller and Bavarian Siggi Schadle have been brewing beer using German purity law and have learnt these skills from German specialists who have trained them.
This is a small brewery, but they still manage to produce 200 litres of beer each week. All the ingredients used have been imported from Germany with the exception of water as this is from the area. Enjoy a sip or two of the Wartburg Brauhaus Marzen or the Wartburg Brahuaus Helles the latter is a combination of flavours between a Pilsner and a Larger with an alcohol percentage of 4. When you visit the brewery on a day tour you'll also enjoy a typical German lunch in the pub.
Before you go don't forget to purchase a souvenir of either a 0.5 or 2.5 ornamental bottle with a flat top - perfect for you home bar.
