The idea behind Manyeleti slackpacker hike is that you move between Ndzhaka and Buffelshoek safari camps, both of which have five safari tents (whether they're canvas or thatch) on wooden decks, two single beds, en-suite bathrooms and linen provided), to experience the reserve.

The days will include a hike from camp-to-camp, a circular walk to the camp, and then back again.

Manyeleti, which means 'place of the stars', is a 23 000 hectare reserve between the Timbavati and Sabi Sands Game Reserve, bordering on the Kruger National Park. It is regarded as one of only few 'secret places' left in and around the Kruger.

Ndzhaka and Buffelshoek are both African Ivory Route camps where there is no electricity, cell phone reception or convenience stores.

In short: this walking safari is an escape from it all in a way that enables you to experience nature in a unique way. Each day gives you the added possibility of spotting the Big Five. The art of tracking wildlife and the simplicity of exploring on foot makes this kind of hike particularly memorable.

By the end of the three days you will know more about Africa and her beauty than you ever imagined. Certainly more than the average visitor's Big Five experience from the seat of a landrover.

Each day is an average walk of 12 km, during which all you will carry is a backpack. Food is provided. Remember sun protection, light clothing, cameras, binoculars and a sense of adventure.
