About Game Activities at Nkomazi
Although the exclusive luxury tented accommodation at the Nkomazi Game Reserve is just about irresistible, guests of the lodge will, no doubt, want to head into the bush and discover the wildlife too. Fortunately, Nkomazi has a number of options for anyone that wants to experience first-hand the beauty of the South African fauna and flora.
Game Drives
Head out into the wild tranquillity of the bush on a guided game drive at Nkomazi. These drives are best in the early morning and evening, when different species emerge at different times of day to feed, visit the watering holes, interact, and care for their young. The drives last for up to three hours, ensuring that visitors get to experience as many species and as much of the landscapes as possible. The game viewing vehicles are open to allow for the best views, and knowledgeable rangers are keen to share their experience and insights with you. What's more, they like to get to know their visitors a little better so that they can share things that will appeal particularly to you. Morning game drives include some delicious tea or coffee, while evening drives are best enjoyed with a sundowner.
Guided Game Walks
There is something very special about walking through the bush, smelling the warm air as it rises from the earth, seeing the tracks of the wildlife, and hearing the rumble of their cries around you. An experienced game ranger will accompany visitors that are 16 years or older into the countryside to approach some of the (safer) wild animals on foot. Not only is this a thrilling experience, but it's also a fantastic way to experience the real, raw appeal of Africa. Request your bush walks once you have confirmed your accommodation booking so that you are assured of having a guide available at the time of your visit.
Guided Nature Walks
Visitors that want to learn more about identifying species, spotting birds in their natural habitat, finding intriguing insects, tracking animals and identifying their droppings will love heading on a guided nature walk. The qualified walking guides understand the earth and its rhythm; they have insight into the species and their natural habitat. This makes them perfectly qualified to take you out and to reveal what they have learnt. The nature walks are only available to visitors that are 16 years or older, and need to be booked before arrival to ensure the availability of the guides.
