Nestled in the Karoo, with the backdrop of the mountains, koppies and scrubby landscapes of the Karoo, is the Travalia Farm Store and Butchery. This is situated on the N1 motorway at Three Sisters, so named for the nearby mountain range. This part of the Karoo is also home to Beaufort West, Richmond and Murraysburg.

This spacious farm store is well stocked with all sort of South African favourites, like droë wors, biltong, dried fruit, nuts, homemade rusks, sweet treats, and a range of local wines. In fact, the Van Loveren Estate is a particular favourite here and is a must for those wanting an easy quaffing wine. The shop also has plenty of gifts and keepsakes to remind you of your special time in the Karoo and the Western Cape.

The restaurant at the Travalia Farm Store is open for breakfast from 07h00. There are various tasty breakfast options, which include bacon, eggs, sausage and biltong. Lunches present a “create your own grill” option, as well as handmade lamb pie, beef burgers, curry and rice, lamb chops, wraps, toasted sandwiches, and salads. There are also tempting sweets.

The Travalia Butchery offers some of the finest local goods, with a permanent on-site block man and modern processing equipment. The Karoo is acclaimed for its excellent lamb, and Travalia is the ideal place to sample excellent cuts as it gets all of its lamb directly from Travalia Farm. Other fantastic products available here include various cuts of springbok (including moreish springbok carpaccio), liver, sheep's tails, kidneys, lamb wheels, beef and venison fillets, offal, and more. Stock up on droë wors and biltong for a long road trip as these are filling, healthy and very tasty.
