About Botha Wine Cellar
1949 was the year when the Botha Cellar first registered as a co-operation with 14 members. A year later saw the first harvest without the cellar's construction being complete. The harvest was 3386 tons despite the challenges.
The real celebration happened in 1952 after three years of successful harvest were commemorated. Four years later, Eskom's power network reached the cellar and 1961 saw the release of the first white wine. For many years, the cellar produced record harvests of about 20 000 tons resulting in leftover wine having to be stored at the Waboomsrivier Cellar.
Enjoy a tasting consisting of 15 wines of sparkling wine, Chardonnay Brut, White wines, Dassie's Blan, Sauvignon Blanc, Light White and Chenin Blanc. Red wines include Dassie's Rose, Dassie's Rood, Merlot, Pinotage, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and cabernet Sauvignon Reserve. The Fortified wines are Red Jerepigo, Port and Hanepoot Jerepigo. The cellar tour allows you to get insight into the winemaking process and is led by one of the winemakers or assistant winemakers.
