About Clovelly Beach
Clovelly Beach in Fish Hoek is well known by locals and is a favourite spot for an early evening stroll or relaxing on the beach in the early morning.
The beach became well known in international media in 2011 when a British man was bitten by a shark in the waters here. Sharks as well as whales and dolphins are often spotted in the water and it's best to adhere to the shark warnings that are posted.
When the water is clear it offers ideal conditions for beginner surfers or a launch spot for sea-kayaks. The water is known to be slightly warmer than Cape Town's west beaches such as Camps Bay thanks to the Indian Ocean. The beach is a popular spot and so make sure you get there early on a great day to find your spot on the sand.
